Two inaugural SIG events to mark the launch of Virtual Networks SIG and Automotive & Transport SIG
08.05.14 'Radical Future, Pragmatic Beginnings' - Virtual Networks SIG, etc. venues, London
The idea of applying the concepts used to build IT datacentres and Cloud services to decouple network functions from the underlying infrastructure has in a short space of time catapulted the established idea of ‘virtual networks' to one of the hottest topics in the networking industry.
Technologies such as Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) are the enablers for this transformative trend. The virtualization does not come without challenges though, in particular in areas of interoperability and integration as well as in scale and dealing with extreme event scenarios. CW is thrilled to announce the Virtual Networks SIG launch event that will take place in London on 8th May. This thought-provoking half-day event will explore potential use cases, both from a short and long-term perspective and separate myth from reality. Speakers include, Philip Bridge of EE, Arjuna Sathiaseelan of Cambridge Computer Labs, Alan Carlton of InterDigital (UK) and Joakim Rönnblom of Huawei. more…
15.05.14 ‘State of the Nation’ - Automotive & Transport SIG, Hethel Innovation Centre, Norwich
Echoing the worldwide interest around intelligent transportation systems, vehicular safety, semi-autonomous technology, vehicle-to-vehicle communication and smart phone technologies bringing more and more applications to our cars, the global automotive sector has many challenges and opportunities within wireless. In response to these challenges and opportunities, CW is proud to announce the inaugural event on 15th May, to celebrate the launch of Automotive & Transport SIG.
Taking place at Hethel Innovation in Norwich, this half-day event will take a ‘State of the Nation’ look at the automotive sector. Where are we today? Where are we heading? What obstacles may the industry foresee? Who are the key stakeholders? Where might the financial returns come from? What are the next steps? Senior figures from several industries will set out their views on where we are today, where we are trying to go, what obstacles they foresee. This backdrop combined with uncertain business models requires that management, shareholders and governments need to decide the investment priorities from a plethora of options all promising a wide range of benefits. With an uncertain roadmap, many technology choices to be made, unclear standards, security issues and corporations choosing different paths, our presenters are likely to offer quite contrasting viewpoints. Confirmed speakers for this event include Mike Short of Telefonica, Roger Lancetot of Strategy Analytics, Ireri Ibarra of MIRA, Nick Smith of the Home Office. more…
