Learning at Work week (14th - 20th May 2018) takes place annually each May, co-ordinated by the Campaign for Learning. It is a celebration of learning with a different theme each year. With the amazing work Cambridge organisations do with L&D, we want to celebrate it and invite you to get involved.
Learning doesn’t have to be about sending people on courses – there are numerous ways of learning. Anyone can take part in the week and it can be a good way of publicising what you are already providing, for employees to share skills with each other (it could be craft, IT, communications, social media) or for individuals to look at online resources – TED talks, blogs, etc.
Many companies take part across the UK and last year two companies from Cambridge joined in and won awards for their innovative activities. Please join us on 10th April at the new Bradfield Centre for a free-to-attend talk to hear from the award winners:
- Jan Holmes, Learning & Development Advisor from Taylor Vinters, a leading international law firm supporting innovative businesses and entrepreneurs in making great things happen. Jan’s calendar of events and ‘expresso shots’ for her staff during the week won her The Campaign for Learning Impact Award for Inspiring Curiosity and Creativity https://www.campaign-for-learning.org.uk/lawweekawards2017. Jan will talk about some of the things you can do for/with employees that are quick, effective and easy to organise.
- Dave Bevan is a Learning and Development Specialist at Jagex, a multi-award winning games developer and publisher. Jagex ran a series of learning activities during the week, as well as driving engagement through offering daily competitons and an end of week prize draw. People were rewarded for physically attending sessions while virtual attendance was also offered catering for different personalities. Jagex won OCN London Inspiring Learning for All - Large Organisation and the Open University Business School Supporting Business and Organisational Goals - Large Organisation. Dave will be talking about how to engage with staff to create an award-winning week.

Cambridge Network will be running courses and events during Learning at Work week, and sharing your Learning at Work week stories. We’d love you to share your stories on our website (even if the learning activities are only open to your staff) as we want Cambridge on the ‘Learning at Work week map’! Please get in touch if you’re involved or if you’d like to find out how to post news on our website.
