About the event

We would be delighted for you to join us for our Breakfast update on 21 February 2018 in Cambridge when we will hear Paul Lee, Global Head of TMT Research, as Paul presents the key TMT trends we predict will impact UK businesses in 2018 and beyond.

Paul’s talk will be followed by a panel of tech focussed business leaders, including David Hardcastle who leads Amazon’s Alexa Knowledge team.  Alexa is an intelligent personal assistant first used in the Amazon Echo and the Amazon Echo Dot devices.

David will be joined by Ken Woodberry, Deputy Managing Director of the OS Technology Group within MSR NeXT – Microsoft’s Research unit, who will also be providing his thoughts on the predictions.Q&A and networking will follow.
To give you an idea of what to expect, here’s a sneak peek at some of the trends you can expect to hear about…

  • On the cusp of reality – augmented reality (AR) is becoming a common feature of many popular apps. In 2018, how will businesses further adopt AR as it moves from cartoon style to photorealistic?
  • Time for take-off – in-flight connectivity (IFC) has been available for many years in mature markets, however 2018 may be the year when the airplane is no longer one of the last remaining connectivity-free zones in any part of the world.
  • Chipping in – by the end of 2018, we predict that changes in the chips used to accelerate machine learning (ML) will lead to ML applications consuming less power, whilst increasing in capabilities, which should dramatically increase enterprise use of ML.

With businesses of the calibre of Amazon and Microsoft on the panel we recommend registering for this popular event as soon as possible to ensure you have a place. The predictions are relevant to many industries and we expect a wide range of organisations to attend.
