Tethir is combating slow Internet on trains by developing a new technology that will allow everyone on the train to watch high definition videos at the same time, even on the busiest lines. The Optical Wireless solution will be applicable on any stretch of electrified railway. Demonstrations in the laboratory are currently being performed as part of an Innovate UK project.

Tethir is an early stage startup with breakthrough IP in optical receivers.  Having demonstrated the receiver capability in the laboratory, it is now working towards a proof of concept, in partnership with academia and railway industry partners. 

In the longer term, Tethir seeks to unlock the potential of Free Space Optics to act as a complimentary technology to others within the 5G envelope, serving high bandwidth demands across several markets, including connectivity for infotainment in autonomous vehicles.
