Ziconix and Alphadaughters Develop a Next Generation Mobile Service That Talks to the Boomer Generation
Mobile technology company Ziconix and online service specialist Alphadaughters, have announced they will jointly deliver an advanced mobile service, called Alphadaughters.com, which is targeted at the 50+ demographic. While many online services are aimed at the youth market, the Alphadaughters' service is focused on the boomer generation - a rapidly growing and affluent group of consumers. The two Cambridge based companies have teamed up to develop a service specifically aimed at women in their fifties. Alphadaughters.com has been designed to address one of the key issues faced by the boomer generation – how to support their ageing parents while pursuing a career and enjoying new found freedom after their own children leave home. Not only is this consumer group growing rapidly but, in the case of family carers, it influences spending decisions made by both their immediate and extended family.
Initially the Alphadaughters' service will run on the Android platform and will use the Ziconix’s patented technology to support advanced appointment scheduling and transport booking functions. The service will be marketed to retailers as a white label value-added service for deployment as a container for mobile shopping and leisure activities while also supporting mobile health, fitness and social networking. The service will also be used to support mobile transport booking - enabling Alphadaughters to remotely book journeys for parents who can no longer drive. These features are regarded as increasingly important as cuts in government funded services put increased pressure on people providing support for parents and other family members.
Peter Kruger, joint founder of Alphadaughters says, “One of the challenges for companies marketing to the boomer generation is how to do this without cannibalising revenue from youth orientated online services, or making customers feel they are being patronised. The Alphadaughters' service has been designed to meet the aspirations and needs of a group of people who are just as influential and independent minded today, as they were when they defined the shape of the modern consumer society during the 1960s”.
Matt Sims, Marketing Director of Ziconix, said that “It is exciting to be working with Alphadaughters as it has identified a real need for a service to connect to a rich seam of consumers who have been largely overlooked in the online revolution”.
Peter Kruger adds “Ziconix has been chosen as the partner for Alphadaughters as it can drive forward the innovation in mobile services from a position of strength having already launched new value added services to the consumer”.
