Organise Immersive Clutter: AR, VR, MR, METAVERSE to Drive Meaningful Medical Applications

Spatial computing technologies like augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and virtual reality (VR), have now become a reality as they present endless possibilities of alternate realities within the field of medicine. Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) are further extending these possibilities by transforming the way data is captured and processed. With Metaverse soon approaching to be a reality, it is becoming increasingly important to establish clarity between all these buzzwords and help medical professionals gain visibility into the use cases that can be supported, be it education, clinical or surgical training and visualisation, patient therapy, curing PTSD, speeding up recovery from mental health – or even supporting medical presentations.

Despite of growing evidence on the value benefits of these technology led solutions, lack of clear distinction between this tech terminology is often causing medical professionals to get mixed up when exploring possible use cases. Not enough has been shared as case studies expressing design, development, and deployment of these use cases in all its glory with good bad and ugly to empower medical professionals to make informed decisions when dealing with these evolving technologies. This presentation will help simplify the noise presented by these buzzwords and outlines the differences along with optimum use cases. It also provides a brief insight into the making and operational aspects involved with this technology led medical solutions.
