The internet revolution has given rise to a huge number of innovative new services. Driven further by the data collection and processing capabilities of smart phones and other portable devices where does this leave data protection and privacy for the user? With such a large volume of data being collected and transmitted to third-parties how can we make sure this is done securely and in line with the choices of the user? And with one eye on the future, will the big promises from the “Internet of Things” and wearable devices help or hinder?
