Radio’s place in positioning – Tracking and Sleuthing

In the second of our series of online events from the Radio Technology SIG working with the Location SIG we looked at the application of some radio positioning techniques. In particular, our speakers looked at solving tracking problems, using technologies from short range to very long range.

Our first speaker Gavan Duffy, CTO at Omnisense talked about how short range radio technology may be used for high accuracy relative positioning and tracking for worker safety in the new world of Covid-19 social distancing.

Our second speaker Chris Ashton, Senior Director, Space Segment Resource Management at Inmarsat explored how aviation satellite communication data helped to identify the flight path of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

This informal webinar was chaired by Brian Collins, BCC Associates and CW Radio Technology SIG Champion.
