RAN Functional Decomposition – the options and interfaces

Prof Andy Sutton, Principal Network Architect, British Telecommunications The mobile radio access network can be decomposed in an increasing number of ways as our industry evolves 4G LTE and introduces 5G technologies. This talk will review the various options from a RAN perspective and explore the implications for network architectures and the transport networks which will need to support fronthaul, mid-haul and backhaul.
