Christopher Proctor - Associate Professor in Bioelectronics, University of Oxford

Christopher Proctor is an Associate Professor in Bioelectronics and BBSRC David Phillips Fellow. He is also a Tutorial Fellow at Keble College. Chris received a B.Sc. in Interdisciplinary Physics from the University of Michigan. Following two years as a general scientist at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, he earned a Ph.D. in Materials from the University of California, Santa Barbara where he investigated loss mechanisms in organic photovoltaics. Subsequently, Chris was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from Whitaker International to develop implantable bioelectronic devices for treating neurological disorders in the Bioelectronics Department at the Ecole des Mines de St Etienne. He then joined the University of Cambridge as a Research Associate and Borysiewicz Biomedical Sciences Fellow. In 2020, Chris started as a BBSRC David Phillips Fellow and group leader in the Engineering Department at Cambridge before moving to Oxford in 2022.

Peter Richardson - VP & Research Director, Counterpoint Research

Peter has been in the mobile industry for more than 30 years with experience in product management, market analysis and corporate strategy. Before being a founder member of Counterpoint Research, Peter was Global Head of Market and Competitive Intelligence at Nokia. David Wood - Chair, London Futurists

David Wood was a pioneer of the smartphone industry and is now a full-time futurist writer, consultant, and publisher. In 1998 he co-founded Symbian, the creator of the world’s first successful smartphone operating system. Software written by his teams was included in half a billion smartphones over the following years, from companies such as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Panasonic, Fujitsu, and Sony Ericsson. He previously spent ten years at UK-based mobile computing innovator Psion PLC, and subsequently three years as CTO of Accenture Mobility, where he co-led the company’s Mobility Health business initiative. He is the author or lead editor of eleven books, including The Singularity Principles, Vital Foresight, Smartphones and Beyond, The Abolition of Aging, and Sustainable Superabundance. As Chair of London Futurists, he has hosted 300 public events on futurist and technoprogressive topics since 2008. As Principal of Delta Wisdom, he works with organisations around the world to inject urgency into discussions of future scenarios and to anticipate forthcoming exponential disruptions. He is a fellow of the IEET and a fellow of the RSA.
