Summary
We are looking for a technically exceptional, flexible and enthusiastic R&D Software Engineer to join our growing world class team.
About the role:
The use of millimetre wave radio technology to provide backhaul to small cell basestations and wireless access points, and to moving cells, such as passenger trains, is gaining traction in the industry. Modems based on IEEE 802.11ad and IEEE 802.11ay, such as those designed by Blu Wireless, are at the forefront of this work. To maximise the small cell performance, the provision of frequency and phase synchronisation over millimetre-wave wireless links using techniques such as SyncE and IEEE1588, is required. Management of the backhaul network using software-defined networking (SDN) and self-organising networks (SON) provides adaptability and reduction of costs. There is a need to develop and demonstrate these methods in field trials, using Blu Wireless technology. The role will address these areas of interest within the BWT engineering team, initially in the framework of a European funded research program.
What will I be accountable for?
- Software development of features such as IEEE 1588 synchronisation and network handover on Blu Wireless millimetre-wave modem platforms.
- Blu Wireless technical lead and project reporting for European funded 5G R&D project.
- Field testing and integration of Blu Wireless modems with external partners within the European programme and outside.
- Support of synchronisation developments into customer-focussed projects, as required.
More About Us:
We are a friendly and welcoming team located in the heart of Bristol, offering a competitive salary and equity scheme, in addition to lifestyle benefits. We are rapidly becoming a leading supplier of multi-gigabit baseband System IP to the emerging multi-billion dollar 4G backhaul and gigabit WiFi market. Exploiting Bristol’s long heritage in parallel computing and consumer electronics technology, we have developed our powerful HYDRA baseband architecture that provides significant cost, power and performance advantages over competing solutions. This highly optimal, but flexible, architecture provides our customers with access to dynamic DSP algorithms for SC-FDE, OFDM and beam tracking so achieving world class performance in mmWave data communication.
We endeavour to respond quickly and professionally to all applications so if interested please submit your CV with a short covering note to jobs@bluwirelesstechnology.com.
