Bid Manager R&D Programmes

Summary

Digital Catapult is seeking to hire an experienced contractor Bid Manager R&D Programmes to drive the growth of our R&D programme and portfolio in the UK. Reporting to the Director of Collaborative R&D, the successful candidate will have extensive experience submitting applications for InnovateUK grants, comfortable with writing all aspects of a proposal. Responsible for developing partnerships and ideas for R&D proposals, securing funding for new projects and taking the funded project portfolio to Grant Agreement. 6-month contract. Off-payroll working rules apply to this engagement (i.e. it is "inside of IR35). Daily pay rate depending on experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Form novel ideas and external partnerships to submit proposals and secure funding for new R&D projects and programmes
  • Develop broader strategies and plans for growing our externally-funded R&D portfolio
  • Develop partnerships with UK-based businesses and universities in the R&D space
  • Keep up to date with R&D opportunities and calls in the UK
  • Partner with internal technical leaders to submit well written technical proposals
  • For the projects secured, drive the start-up phase and oversee their execution

What We’re Looking For

  • Wide knowledge of the UK’s funding landscape and mechanisms
  • Solid experience in the R&D space
  • Experience both in writing of InnovateUK ISCF proposals and/or as a monitoring officer for InnovateUK projects
  • Track record of securing R&D funding for clients either in-house or as an external consultant
  • Well networked with like-minded organisations / collaborators in the R&D space
  • Experience with R&D and/or innovation, in particular the ability and instinct for developing novel ideas with customers/users/technology providers
  • Extensive experience writing proposals/applications for R&D funding, defining, scoping and operationalizing new R&D projects, including work packages, resourcing and priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills
