Amazon Prime Video is a premium on-demand video entertainment service that offers customers a wide selection in what to watch from popular Prime Original TV shows made by Amazon Studios such as The Grand Tour, Jack Ryan and the recent Golden Globe winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to Prime Original Movies like the Oscar-winning Manchester by the Sea.

The Prime Video Content Analytics team is seeking an outstanding Data Scientist to build large-scale models and uncover key insights describing how customers engage with Prime Video. As consumers increasingly adopt on-demand video, we need to make agile decisions in order to optimize our video selection based on the content that most appeals to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

You will have the following responsibilities within the scope of our global Prime Video business:

· Design, develop and deploy robust predictive models for estimating engagement with Prime Video content and downstream value metrics
· Develop supervised and unsupervised pipelines to automatically retrain and score models from TB-scale data sources
· Support the finance and content acquisition management teams with data-driven insights to assist in licensing decisions and investment strategy
· Design new metrics and KPIs that effectively guide the business and deploy effective mechanisms for forecasting and tracking
· Ensure that the quality and timeliness of analytic deliverables meet business expectations
· Write and present papers with insights and recommendations for both non-technical senior audiences and at internal conferences to technical leaders
· Provide direction and guidance to junior members of staff on all aspects of analytics and data science, from business context and prioritization to technical coaching

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· PhD in a quantitative field such as economics, operational research, machine learning, computer science, statistics, physical sciences, applied mathematics or a related scientific discipline
· Significant professional work experience in data science, business intelligence or analytics in a corporate environment, including modelling of very large data sets (TB scale)
· Proven experience and fluency with SQL and at least one major data science and statistics language (e.g. python, R, SAS), to be tested at interview
· Expertise in predictive modelling, including parametric (e.g. logit, probit, GLM) and non-parametric (e.g. random forest, neural net, GBM) techniques
· Experience in end-to-end development of data science solutions, from conception and scoping, through development and testing to final deployment
· Excellent verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts to both business and technical teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Previous experience with front-end development, visualization and reporting tools such as R/Shiny, Flask or Django
· Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and tooling (EC2, S3, Redshift, SageMaker)
· Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
