Anglian Water supplies to over four million domestic and commercial customers, so it’s crucial that we deliver clean, safe water efficiently and effectively. We undertake rigorous water-testing procedures; protect thousands of kilometres of rivers and wetland parks and work tirelessly to preserve biodiversity in the area.

The Analysts in the Laboratory work in a time critical, process driven environment in order to receive, analyse and report analytical data on water samples, in accordance with the quality assurance procedures of the laboratory.

What will you be doing?

Based at our modern laboratory on a 12 month contract, you’ll work in the Trace Organics section, you’ll join the team and work within the quality system ensuring a timely turnaround of results.

You’ll be involved in a range of activities within the laboratory, including the analysis of a variety of water samples, running manual and automated analytical techniques, and handling and downloading data within a UKAS accredited quality system.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement, take on a variety of scientific challenges and gain an exciting array of experience as you meet them.

This role will enable you to achieve Registered Technician, moving to Registered Scientist status with a relevant institution.

What do you need?

With a relevant degree (or equivalent) and an interest in trace organics/chemistry, you’ll have both the technical understanding and passion for science to make this a great start to your career in which you'll receive full training.

You’ll ideally have experience of following policies and procedures and working in a regulated laboratory with ISO17025 accreditation.

There will be an expectation for you to work using your own initiative and take a common sense approach to tasks. You should also be adaptable and be able to prioritise work.

Flexibility is also crucial to this role as adjustment to sample number and variety may be required.
