Background

Are you an experienced Software Developer with a strong background in Embedded Software Development? At Arm we seek highly motivated individuals who have a professional approach to Software Development and an interest in open source software. You would join a growing team of like-minded individuals that share a passion for pushing forward the future of computing wherever that ambition may lead. You will help Arm maintain its leadership in the low-power embedded market, as well as playing a significant role in helping Arm grow as we create innovate cutting edge solutions. These solutions are used by Arm partners in a range of customer products from Mobile, through IoT to Automotive industries.

Our team is responsible for developing and improving the software eco-system around Arm's next generation of applications processors. This frequently means working with processors and other hardware technology not yet publicly available. Work is carried out on a range of development platforms, software-models, FPGAs and early silicon, sometimes many months before it becomes available in real products.

Job Purpose

The mandate of the Power Management team is to minimize energy consumption for Arm devices, whilst guaranteeing performance where it is needed.

We achieve this by improving the Linux scheduler’s support for asymmetric topologies such as Heterogeneous Multiprocessor (HMP) systems, and by teaching it to take into account the energy cost when making decisions.

Your work will enhance the battery life of hundreds of consumer devices within the next five years, improving millions of people’s user experience, worldwide.
