Bailey Fisher's David Boorman shares his insights at Ignite
David was one of a team of experts, including Alex van Someren, Walter Herriott, Hermann Hauser, Alan Barrell and Jamie Urquhart, invited by Shai Vyakarnam to share their knowledge and experience with delegates at the week-long programme for entrepreneurs and innovators.
Delegates from the UK, USA, Spain and China convened in Cambridge to trial their ideas for the commercial environment, with one-to-one clinics, keynote speeches and networking sessions aimed at providing the business leaders of the future with all the necessary skills for successful start-up.
David Boorman specialises in executive search for early-stage technology companies. With an in-depth knowledge of the growth issues faced by start-up ventures, David was perfectly placed to advise the Ignite delegates on the practical issues involved in building a successful management team.
Celebrating its 10th year, Ignite attracts aspiring entrepreneurs to trial their ideas for the commercial environment. The programme has a successful track record of inspiring new businesses, including Artimi and Alphamosaic, as well as sparking internal business development in established companies.
Dr Shai Vyakarnam, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning, commented: “We are delighted that someone of David’s calibre was able to contribute his specialist experience to our programme. Our delegates are mainly scientists and researchers - all high achievers with a depth of knowledge of their chosen field - but they really benefit from engaging with a practitioner who can help them make the transition to the commercial arena with relevant business development skills.”
The next Ignite programme will run from Sunday 28th June to Saturday 4th July 2009 at Judge Business School in Cambridge.
