SGS Add Wi-Fi for “Over The Air” Antenna Test Laboratory

SGS United Kingdom Ltd’s wireless antenna testing facility has received the accreditation from both the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), and the Wi-Fi alliance ™ extending the scope as a CTIA Accredited Test Laboratory for Converged Wireless Group (CWG) to include RF Performance Evaluation of WiFi mobile converged devices.

Mobile devices capable of converged 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) technologies (e.g. GSM,UTRA (3G) and E-UTRA (LTE)) and Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) are required to undergo RF Performance Evaluation under industry schemes including the Wi-Fi Association and the PTCRB (Mobile Network Operators Certification Forum) alongside many Network Operators internal conformance requirements for their networks. SGS capabilities assist terminal manufacturers meet these requirements.
Globally there are 16 specialised laboratories capable of this testing for converged devices, SGS are the global leaders having 4 of these facilities. Keith Hutchinson (UK Consumer Testing Services Manager) said “our wireless facilities are now capable of servicing manufacturers seeking certification of their latest technology standards that consumers require, within the wireless devices industry 10 years ago devices where capable of data rates of 56 kbit/s, tomorrow’s technology could reach rates of 100 Mbit per second”
