Chronos participates in EANTC Interoperability Showcase

Chronos Technology will participate with its SyncWatch synchronisation solution in the multi-vendor Interoperability Showcase at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress (CEWC)20-23 September 2010 in Warsaw, Poland, organised by The European Advanced Networking Test Centres (EANTC).

20-23 September 2010 – Chronos Technology will participate with its SyncWatch synchronisation solution in the multi-vendor Interoperability Showcase at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress (CEWC) 2010 in Warsaw, Poland, organised by The European Advanced Networking Test Centres (EANTC).

In advance of the CEWC event, a series of rigorous tests took place at EANTC’s lab in Berlin.   Supported by Chronos, a number of vendors successfully participated in the interoperability testing of the Precision Time Protocol (IEEE 1588 v2) and Synchronous Ethernet as viable solutions for clock synchronisation of mobile base stations or leased line replacement services.

Chronos’ SyncWatch allows equipment manufacturers and service providers to rapidly prove synchronisation technologies like IEEE 1588 v2 and Synchronous Ethernet.  SyncWatch is a flexible synchronisation test and monitoring system designed to meet operator and manufacturer requirements be they in the lab or live networks.

Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director at EANTC, said, “Synchronisation testing and monitoring of clocking accuracy can be very time-consuming, specifically given the high and increasing requirements in the telecom industry. With the Chronos SyncWatch system, we were able to run a lot of these tests quickly and in an accurate and reproducible way to really prove the performance of synchronisation delivered across the multi-vendor platforms under test.”

Details of the tests and the platforms are in the Multi-Vendor Interoperability Test White Paper, which can be downloaded at www.eantc.com/cewc2010

“Increasingly in recent years the EANTC Interoperability events have included a growing focus on synchronisation. Chronos has been pleased to be involved in providing part of the test environment the Ethernet vendors rely on to supply independent evidence their equipment meets recognised performance levels,” said Chris Roberts, Business Manager with Chronos Technology.
