Future of Tranatlantic Business -- UK-US Perspectives
LONDON – The future of transatlantic business will be discussed at a high-level event hosted by the Fairfax County (Virginia, USA) Economic Development Authority next week. Key speakers will be Dr Gerald L. Gordon PhD, President and CEO of the FCEDA (www.fairfaxcountyeda.org) and Mr Jeffries Briginshaw, Managing Director of BritishAmerican Business/London (www.babinc.org)
The event – the 12th transatlantic business networking reception hosted by the FCEDA in conjunction with BAB – will take place at One Whitehall Place in Central London on Thursday, 8th November. The event is titled “The Future of Transatlantic Business – UK-US Perspectives”. Dr Gordon will speak from a US perspective and Mr Briginshaw will offer his views from a UK and EU perspective.
The US presidential election will have occurred just two days before the event which is expected to attract senior business executives from around the UK as well as from the United States. Dr Gordon said: “The commercial relationship between our two countries is of keen interest to our target audience. As in previous years, this year’s event will be an occasion for top business people from both sides of the Atlantic to network and form new relationships.”
Speakers at previous events have included Sir Richard Lambert, former Director-General of the Confederation of British Industry; Business Secretary, Vince Cable MP; the former Governor of Virginia, Timothy Kaine; the Chairman and CEO of QinetiQ, Sir John Chisholm; and the former head of HSBC, Sir Stephen Brown. Said Dr Gordon: “Attendees will be able also to network with a broad spectrum of business representatives, many of whom are already engaging successfully in transatlantic business.
It is an unrivalled opportunity.” The US is the UK’s biggest business partner and there are more than 75 British companies based in Fairfax County. “The FCEDA has for more than a decade been building relations with businesses and industry organisations throughout Britain and we believe the county provides excellent opportunities for other UK companies who hope to enter the US market in the coming years,” Dr Gordon said. Fairfax County's location – its proximity to the federal market in or near Washington DC and Dulles International Airport – makes it ideal for British companies. Note to Editors:
