UK Energy Harvesting Mission to Japan

Join the UK Energy Harvesting Mission to Japan!

Would you like an opportunity to promote your energy harvesting technology at Japan’s largest electronic and mechatronic parts exhibition? 

The Energy Harvesting Special Interest Group (EH SIG), part of the Technology Strategy Board’s successful knowledge transfer programme, is inviting UK companies and universities to take part in the UK Energy Harvesting Mission to Japan. The programme includes participation in Techno-Frontier 2013, a key exhibition, where leading businesses, including En Ocean Alliance and Fujitsu Semiconductor, gather to showcase and view the latest technologies. 

Asia is clearly the centre of the world’s electronics industry. Japan, being the leading nation in electronics devices production, has the power to attract the latest technologies, leading companies and prominent buyers, not only from inside Japan but from Taiwan, Korea, and China and other nations. 

 

The UK Energy Harvesting Mission to Japan offers a unique opportunity not only to promote the UK’s expertise in energy harvesting but to forge valuable trade, science and innovation links with Japanese and Asian businesses and researchers including those participating in the Techno-Frontier 2013 expo: EnOcean Alliance, FUJITSU SEMICONDUCTOR, HIOKI E.E, Kawahara Laboratory,The University of Tokyo, MERSEN JAPAN, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, Murata Manufacturing, NOISE LABORATORY , ROHM, SMACH, The Electret Alliance for Energy Harvester and others. 

The Mission is looking for applications from UK registered SMEs. Successful applicants will be awarded a GRANT of up to £800 to offset against their costs in participating in the Mission. Larger companies and universities are also welcome to apply, but will not be eligible for funding. 

Expertise in the following technology areas is particularly welcome: 

  • Small scale energy harvesting techniques/products
  • Self-powered sensor systems 
  • Small scale battery / energy storage devices and techniques
  • Wireless autonomous modules
  • Other applications that could benefit from the use of energy harvesting technologies
