Opportunity for Cambridge Wireless Community

An Antenna and Device RF Test Capability for the Cambridge Community. There is an opportunity to acquire a significant asset to help the Wireless and RF community in Cambridge and make us even more competitive. As you may know Antenova M2M Limited is changing premises and re-centering its Engineering in Taiwan. As a result they are disposing of an SATIMO S-64 antenna test chamber and associated test equipment.

This is a very rare facility which enables antenna and device radiated gain and efficiency measurements to a high degree of accuracy and repeatability over a frequency range of at least 400 MHz to 6 GHz (limited by absorber characteristics and test equipment).  The chamber itself is 5-metre cube, and is fully screened so it can provide an electrically quiet environment for receiver testing. It will be necessary to provide a lab of a suitable size, together with a limited amount of technician support. For an outline specification, please see http://www.satimo.com/content/products/sg-64

This type of facility is essential for an antenna company, but most product companies could not on their own justify such an investment for occasional use.  There are very few such facilities in the UK, and none that are easily accessible to Cambridge.  There would seem to be an opportunity to build a consortium to acquire and run the chamber for the benefit of the Cambridge Wireless community, and potentially to provide services more widely.  If you are interested in attending a meeting to discuss this, tentatively scheduled for mid-November, please respond asap or latest by 8th November,  to  [email protected]
