Ofcom consultation on the dynamic sharing of spectrum closing soon

Last chance to contribute to a consultation on this important topic Ofcom is seeking views on the nature of demand for shared access to spectrum and how Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) techniques could be used to enable its most effective use. DSA could be an important new approach for accessing spectrum – and the views of industry and other stakeholders is vital to ensure we capture the full scope of potential benefits.

This aim of the consultation is to develop our understanding of the role that shared spectrum could play alongside cleared spectrum bands in delivering data services and supporting innovation.

All responses to the consultation will be used to inform Ofcom’s future work in the following areas:
  • Exploring options to ensure there is sufficient spectrum for indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi use
  • Shared spectrum for mobile broadband and M2M services
  • Dynamic spectrum access technologies
  • Short-term access to spectrum for research and development
