Another Successful Year for Cambridge Wireless – Thank you for your support
Here are a few of our highlights from 2013…
Three new SIG’s launched
Due to popular demand, our portfolio of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) has been expanded with the initiation of three exciting new groups – Big Data, Future Technology and Wireless Heritage. We are also pleased to announce that two more SIGs are in the pipeline for 2014! Details on all of our SIGs may be found here.
Over a 35% increase in SIG Champions
As our membership and SIG portfolio continue to grow, so does the interest in our SIGs. We have seen the highest number of SIG Champions to date with an overwhelming 76 top industry figures working alongside us to bring the highest calibre of events to our membership.
Introduction of the Prestigious Lecture Series – Exclusive to Founder Members
The Prestigious Lecture Series launched its ‘Thought Leaders in Wireless’ series in February with an evening with technology entrepreneur, Dr Hermann Hauser, founder of Acorn, and was continued in October with Professor Andy Hopper, Head of the Computer Lab. We are thrilled to announce its next event in February 2014 with Sir John O’Reilly, Director General of Knowledge and Innovation.
Introduction of Bespoke Partnering Service – Exclusive to Founder Members
Our bespoke partnering service is tailored to suit the needs of the individual organisation. Orange (formerly France Telecom) were the first to partake in this service with the aim to meet clusters, incubators and consultancies to further its R&D into seamless wireless broadband, smart cities, cloud/personal + enterprise, network evolutions and m-payments. As a result of this meeting, discussions are ongoing.
Jam-packed Events Calendar in 2013
We have delivered nearly 50 events in the last twelve months, providing thought leadership discussions in which our members get to debate about the latest hot topics via the various SIGs, and we hope that this will contribute further to innovation in the industry. We have a very busy schedule for next year and are looking forward to more hot topics being discussed.
The 5th Future of Wireless Conference was a huge success
The 5th Future of Wireless International Conference (FWIC), which focused on ‘Everything will be Connected (Did you really say 50 billion devices?)’, was a huge success with and was the most well attended conference since we launched the conference five years ago. The 2014 conference is shaping up to be bigger and better and will launch in the New Year.
Discovering Start-Ups 2013 nurtures UK tech talent
We are proud to have again worked with our partner, Silicon South West on Discovering Start-Ups 2013 competition, which continued to support young UK organisations and saw 17 pioneering start-ups pitch to a select group of VC’s, angel investors and industry experts, in a battle to determine five worthy winners.
Evolving Membership
Our 370+ membership is steadily developing and strengthening year on year, and this success will continue into a thriving 2014. Founder membership offers the widest scope of benefits and privileges to our members and gives them higher involvement in our community.
Thank you for all your support for Cambridge Wireless and we hope that you will continue to support us as we aim to grow and as part of the expansion, we hope we will be able to deliver more added value services to our Membership!
