This concise evening lecture deliberates the 'knowledge triangle' of research, innovation and higher education. A strong coalition between industry and academia enables clear benefits, to which government has a crucial role in adopting and enabling this.

A number of success stories from the ICT/ Communications arena will be showcased to highlight potential directions in which to drive forward, and that remaining stagnant is just not an option. Attendees of the lecture will be invited to join John in looking 'downstream’, forming discussions to formulate a view of 'good' and to deliberate possible means that should follow.

Sir John O’Reilly was appointed Director General of Knowledge and Innovation in February 2013 subsequently after his position as Vice Chancellor of Cranfield University, where he was from December 2006.The Director General of Knowledge and Innovation Group is responsible for leading the group’s work to stimulate economic growth by making the UK world class at enabling and exploiting knowledge, research and innovation.
