TfL issues a PIN for Small Cells Deployment

Transports for London (TfL) are currently looking for a suitable partner who will work with them to deploy small cells in london. A Prior Information Notice (PIN) to test the market on how best to structure the proposed partnership has been issued to the public. TfL wishes to investigate the possibility of getting a suitable business ‘partner(s)’ who  will  work  with them to provide a turn key solution to Mobile Network Operators (MNO)s for small cells deployment. The soft market testing is to gain knowledge from the market about how best to structure the proposed ‘partner’ arrangement.

There are a number of commercial models for partnerships available which TfL would like to explore. Early market engagement will give TfL an insight into this emerging technology and provide analysis of the market’s appetite for potential procurement opportunities.

Ideally, the partner will have appropriate knowledge, skills and experience in this market with the capability and capacity to acquire, design, install and maintain service model for deployment of Small Cells. Potential successful suppliers will have (but not limited to):

  • Strong working relationships with Mobile Network Operators
  •  Have contracts with MNOs
  • Able to operate in a multi- vendor environment
  • Experience of managing end-to-end solutions for MNOs including post integration support.
  • Deployed or in the process of deploying Small Cells
  • Strong relationships with other key market leaders in the Telecoms Industry
