Tektronix QCloud Scores Big in the Diamond Technology Reviews

Tektronix' QCloud is the First Cloud-based Solution that Meets the Quality Control Needs of Companies in the Production, Post production, Broadcast and Multichannel Video Delivery Industries.

BEAVERTON, Ore. - September 10, 2014 - Tektronix (www.tektronix.com), the market leader in broadcast video test, monitoring and analysis solutions, today announced that QCloud, its new cloud-based quality control (QC) platform, has received an outstanding 4.0 Diamond rating in the Broadband Technology Report's 2014 Diamond Technology Reviews, marking the seventh year a Tektronix product has received 4 or more Diamonds in this highly regarded product reviews program.

In its ninth year, the Diamond Technology Reviews (commonly referred to as "the Diamonds") are determined by unbiased evaluations by a distinguished and independent panel of Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) national board members and cable engineering experts, including senior executives from the largest U.S. cable operators.

"It's becoming standard-practice to see a high score from the Tektronix product team for broadband. The judges were impressed by the QCloud's functionality and quality. It would appear this is a must-have in any engineer's quality assurance (QA)arsenal," said Tim Hermes, founder and publisher of the Broadband Technology Report.

Introduced in late 2013, QCloud is revolutionizing the way that cable operators and other companies that operate file-based workflows on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other cloud platforms conduct their QC operations. QCloud operates on a software subscription platform allowing cable operators to ensure that their content is ready for delivery at the quality their customers expect, while saving on OpEx and CapEx. Unlike competing solutions, QCloud is based on Tektronix' proven Cerify QC solution. Not only does QCloud complement the rising use of storing file-based workflows in the cloud, it also complements other necessary measurement and quality control services within a cable headend.

"QCloud is the first cloud-based solution of its kind and receiving such an excellent score in this prestigious awards program shows that industry experts recognize the value of this pioneering product," said Eben Jenkins, general manager, video product line, Tektronix. "QCloud is the first product to enable organizations running file-based workflows to dramatically reduce their quality control costs by performing their QC functions in the cloud."

Beyond application of the newest technology, Diamond rankings are determined based on innovation, ease-of-use, efficiency, reliability and contribution to profitability. This year's Diamond judges recognized the market need for the newly released QCloud; and, one judge noted that it is "possibly the only solution to ensuring operators leveraging cloud-based video delivery to measure and monitor quality post ingest, editing and transcoding."

Tektronix will demonstrate QCloud's advanced cloud-based QC capabilities at its booth (1531) at this year's Cable-Tec Expo, which will take place in Denver, Colo. from September 22 to September 25.
