UCL has most impactful research in the UK: why not collaborate with us?
University College London (UCL) is ranked the 5th best university in the world in the 2014 QS World Rankings. Our Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) department is the oldest in England, founded in 1885 by the inventor of the thermionic valve, the basis of the transistor, Professor Sir John Ambrose Fleming.
Today, the department is ranked first in the UK for research output with 97% of our research activity ranked world leading or internationally significant in the Government's Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014. Overall, results for UCL indicate that the university has the greatest impact power (according to GPA X FTE measure) in the UK.
Our track record of Industry Collaboration dates back to 1899, when Fleming became Scientific Advisory to the Marconi Company.
Today our collaborators range from major International Companies and government bodies to SMEs. As Engineers we believe that practical application and interaction with industry are an inherent part of what we do. We are always keen to talk to companies, both large and small to explore how we might collaborate. This could be through sponsored student projects, contract research, consultancy, CPD, IP licensing or spin-outs.
