IoTUK Boost unveils next big things in health and social care tech

Five prizewinners announced in programme to connect IoT start-ups with problem owners across South of England

Cambridge, 29 February, 2016 - In November of last year CW (Cambridge Wireless) were selected as local partners of the IoTUK Boost programme, which aims to convene and amplify the UK’s IoT industry to help business and economic growth. Covering the South of England and focusing on health and social care technology, CW together with SETsquared, RTACS, and 5GIC at the University of Surrey ran a competition to select SMEs for rapid incubation workshops in Bristol and Guildford. During these workshops successful SMEs received mentorship from and pitched to representatives of prominent healthcare networks, consultancies and IoT leading companies. From the successful SMEs five prizewinners have now been selected to receive further incubation support from CW, SETsquared and IoTUK through membership of their associated networks, physical and virtual showcase opportunities, and additional mentoring and support from our expert partner organisations 4YFN, Alloy, Arkessa, Breed Reply, EAHSN, Iotic Labs, Tradefair, and MediaTek Labs .

‘The five prizewinners are commended for the clarity of their business proposition, the simplicity of their user design, the sophistication of their health and social Care technology, as well as the strong improvement throughout they showed over the course of the programme’ said Bob Driver, CEO of CW. ‘Whether they were prizewinners or not, all the SMEs who were selected for the programme have benefited from making new contacts with fellow entrepreneurs, advisors and even potential business partners. Wherever necessary CW will be on hand to help them follow up on these connections.’
