Building AgriTech Connections Between Cambridge, UK and the USA Agritech Clusters

Agri-Tech East and SmithsonHill hosted an AgriTech delegation from St Louis, Missouri, USA. The delegation was organized by the World Trade Center St. Louis in collaboration with the British Consulate-General in Chicago and the British Honorary Consul in Missouri and made up of Missouri-based business leaders, agricultural researchers and government officials, seeking to develop long-term relationships between the US AgriTech hub in Missouri and the UK AgriTech cluster in Cambridge.

On Wednesday 6th February, Agri-Tech East and SmithsonHill hosted an AgriTech delegation from St Louis, Missouri, USA. The delegation was organized by the World Trade Center St. Louis in collaboration with the British Consulate-General in Chicago and the British Honorary Consul in Missouri and made up of Missouri-based business leaders, agricultural researchers and government officials, seeking to develop long-term relationships between the US AgriTech hub in Missouri and the UK AgriTech cluster in Cambridge.

Cambridge has firmly established itself as one of Europe’s leading destinations for technology and bioscience with strong established reputations of Cambridge University, Cambridge-based science parks, the technology and agriculture corridors in our vicinity, and the East of England’s life science heritage. Dr Belinda Clarke, Director of Agri-Tech East, commented,

This visit was a unique opportunity for some of our members to engage with potential partners and stakeholders in the US.  We look forward to developing the relationships further in the future.

This international delegation brings opportunities to develop long term business relationships and international supply chains between the US and the UK. The group included representatives from the World Trade Center in St Louis, and key leaders from the St. Louis AgriTech ecosystem who have developed a landing point to the US market from St Louis.

As the US hub for AgriTech, we see this visit as a great way to start building relationships with the UK AgriTech cluster in Cambridge. We are very grateful for the tremendous support we received from Agri-Tech East and SmithsonHill.

The delegation included meetings about growth of AgriTech in the Eastern region with PWC Cambridgeand pitches from exciting AgriTech start-ups such as Smartbell.io, Herdsy, Folium Science, and Outfield XYZ.  Emma Fletcher, MD of SmithsonHill spoke about the delegation,

This visit has given us an opportunity to showcase the exciting new AgriTech start-ups in Cambridge, and explore potential for international trade relationships and increased two-way trade with the US.
