IoTAS complete GCF NB-IoT Testing in the Vodafone Laboratory, Germany

5th October 2017 - The Vodafone IoT lab in Düsseldorf, Germany, which is part of the GSMA Mobile IoT Initiative (Open IoT Labs) – has been used for the first time to complete Global Certification Forum (GCF) NB-IoT Field Trial testing. The testing was completed by IoTAS (an independent GCF - Recognised Test Organization – RTO) in accordance with the GSMA CLP.23: CIoT field trials test specification. NB-IoT, unlike other M2M wireless solutions, is a radio which is able to co-exist with LTE (Cellular technology). As well as co-existing with cellular technology NB-IoT will also benefit from the security and privacy mobile network features.

The Global Certification Forum (GCF) was founded in 1999, in response to changes in the regulatory environment in Europe, to give operators confidence in the interworking of new mobile devices at a time of rapid technological development and market growth.

IoTAS is a founder member of the Global Certification Forum (GCF) Ltd and is an active participant in the GCF Field-Trial Agreement Group (FTAG) meetings; contributing to the ongoing global requirements for the certification of 3GPP based wireless terminals. IoTAS is committed to being a recognised leader in live network field-testing by working with its customers and industry forums to provide solutions that meet customer needs, objectives and certification requirements.

IoTAS are very pleased to be hosting the GCF (Global Certification Forum) meetings in Guildford (UK) in December 2017 and in Cambridge (UK) in July 2018
