Professor John Haine
John is head of the editorial board and has spent his career in the electronics and communications industry working for the likes of BT, Marconi and u-blox. His technical background includes R&D in radio circuitry and the design of novel radio systems for wireless networks. He is a Visiting Professor at Bristol University, focusing on Radio Systems for IoT.
Robert Driver
CEO of Cambridge Wireless, Bob is responsible for leading the development of the organisation and broadening its reach with other sectors, while retaining the unique culture of the CW community. Previously Director for Technology at UK Trade & Investment, he successfully led teams to help UK firms access overseas opportunities, and attract investment back into the UK.
Nick Hunn
Nick is the CTO of WiFore Consulting and a SIG Champion for the CW Connected Devices group. He has been involved with short-range wireless and communications for over thirty years, designing technology to bring mobility to products in the areas of telematics, M2M, smart energy, wearables and mHealth.
David Cleevely CBE
David is an entrepreneur, investor, Chairman, and Non-exec director with many years of experience founding, growing and advising technology companies. A co-founder of Cambridge Wireless he is chair of numerous companies, notably the affordable computer, Raspberry PI Foundation. He was awarded a CBE in 2013 for services to technology and innovation.
Paul Tindall
Paul is Head of Software at Sepura where he works on critical communications systems and products. Prior to this he was Software Architect for u-blox where he created a novel Software Defined Modem (SDM) Platform. Paul also works on a variety of projects for the Ministry of Defence. He is a Fellow of the BCS.
Sylvia Lu
Sylvia is a Senior Engineer at u-blox and CW Board Member with over a decade experience in wireless communication R&D, technology standards and innovation. Her background includes algorithm design, DSP development for LTE modems, and technology strategy. Sylvia represents u-blox in 3GPP standards and leads its standardisation activities for low- complexity cellular communications for IoT.
Tony Milbourn
Tony has 30 years’ experience in the mobile industry. He was founder and CEO of TTP Com, a major licensing business in cellular acquired in 2006 by Motorola; a founder of ip.access, a leading femtocell business; and led the spin-off of soft modem start-up, Cognovo, from ARM Holdings to u-blox, where he is currently VP of Strategy.
Simon Rockman
Publisher of CW Journal, Simon is an experienced technology writer. He was Editor of Personal Computer World in the late 1980s and founded the world’s first consumer magazine about telecoms, What Mobile. He has held senior product strategy roles at Motorola, Sony Mobile, and the GSMA. And is founder of Fuss Free Phones, a unique mobile phone network catering for the needs of older people.
Gaye Soykok
Ms. Soykok is Technology and Innovation specialist, helping businesses innovate, create technology strategy and co-create with the ecosystem. She also mentors and supports initiatives that focus on technology being more meaningful and accessible to the wider society.
Andy Sutton
Andy is Principal Network Architect for BT, responsible for E2E 5G network architecture, as well as mobile backhaul strategy and architecture. He has over 30 years of experience within the telecoms industry. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Salford, a Chartered Engineer, and Fellow of the IET, BCS and ITP.
William Webb
William is CEO of the Weightless SIG, a body standardising a new M2M technology. He was a founding director of Neul, and former IET President (2014-2015). He is a Visiting Professor at multiple universities, and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, IEEE and the IET.
