Parallel Wireless is nominated for three Small Cell Forum Awards & WINS TWO 2018

Parallel Wireless are thrilled to announce that we have won two Small Cell Forum awards! We would like to thank the judges for recognizing our innovation, our partners for believing in our vision, and our team whose work made this all possible!

WINNER of Excellence in Commercial Deployment of Rural, Remote, and Temporary Small Cells
Parallel Wireless is ecstatic to announce that our rural deployment in Northern Canada with Ice Wireless has won the Small Cell Forum Excellence in Commercial Deployment of Rural, Remote, and Temporary Small Cells award.
Parallel Wireless 2G/3G/4G Open RAN solution addressed the following three challenges to bring unlimited service by Ice Wireless to consumers/businesses up North:

  • Overall deployment cost/for relatively small number of end users.
  • Access to transport/cost of transport with satellite being the primary type of transport, but prone to outages
  • Network operational cost

Parallel Wireless’ Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) based network solution enabled Ice Wireless to deploy coverage on an accelerated timeline, delivering consumer service offerings by utilizing any available transport and consuming minimum power for significant OPEX savings. The sites, deployed locally for resilience, will fully utilize the Software-Defined Radio (SDR) capability of the technology to incorporate both 3G and 4G/LTE (and 5G in the future) into a single integrated solution that delivers the smallest site footprint. Our innovation has enabled Ice Wireless to offer unlimited calls, texts, data, and roaming throughout Canada, the US & Mexico. End-users in Northern Canada can now enjoy reliable and affordable LTE coverage!


WINNER of Social Impact – Promoting Small Cells for Social/Economic/Environmental Development 
Digitalization is an important factor of social and economic progress, and mobile broadband plays a key role in reducing the digital divide. Parallel Wireless partnered with Telefonica to expand connectivity through Latam with the goal of bridging the digital divide.
Parallel Wireless unique low cost, low footprint, and virtualized multi-technology solution helps to deliver coverage to Latam’s remote areas by making deployments easy and affordable to install, maintain and to upgrade to any technology without any additional hardware. By affording operators the opportunity to roll out cost-effective connectivity to communities, urban and rural, Parallel Wireless can help Telefonica provide “Internet para todos”.

HetNet Software and Services – Management and Automation
Parallel Wireless is honored to be shortlisted for Small Cell Forum HetNet Software Services. With modern networks, there is a massive amount of data available from a variety of sources including end-users, traffic and weather conditions, and the network itself. To ensure maximum optimization of the network, Parallel Wireless’ multi-technology RAN orchestrator, known as HetNet Gateway (HNG), acts as a virtual machine by virtualizing many essential network functions on one low-cost platform. The key VNF for big data and virtual analytics (vAnalytics) is the virtualized real-time, multi-technology SON, which can provide network data and make necessary real-time network adjustments for end-users, things, and processes running over cellular networks, especially at the edge.
