Reflections from the CWIC 2026 Founders’ Dinner

The evening before the Cambridge Wireless International Conference 2026, we brought together members and conference participants for the CWIC 2026 Founders’ Dinner - an opportunity to connect, reflect, and set the tone for the conversations ahead.

Held at Homerton College, the dinner welcomed founders, senior leaders, innovators and investors from across the Cambridge Wireless network for an evening centred on meaningful connection and shared insight.

Conversations that matter

The Founders’ Dinner creates space for high-quality, informal conversation - something that continues to be highly valued in an increasingly fast-paced and digital world.

From discussions around emerging technologies and industry challenges, to sharing experiences and exploring potential collaborations, the evening reinforced the role Cambridge Wireless plays in convening the right people, in the right environment, to spark meaningful dialogue.

These conversations are where relationships begin - and where future ideas often take shape.

Reflections from the Chair of the CW Board

We also heard from our Chair, Olu Orugboh, who shared reflections on the current landscape and the opportunities ahead for the community.

Her remarks provided a valuable moment to step back and consider the bigger picture - recognising both the pace of change across the technology sector and the importance of collaboration in navigating it.

After-dinner insights from Professor Howard Watson

The evening continued with an engaging after-dinner talk from Professor Howard Watson, whose career spans more than 25 years in senior leadership roles across telecommunications and technology.

Drawing on his experience as former Chief Security and Networks Officer at BT, Howard shared perspectives shaped by leading at the forefront of connectivity, security and large-scale infrastructure.

His talk offered a thoughtful view on the evolving role of networks, the growing importance of security, and the responsibility of organisations operating within increasingly complex and interconnected systems.

Following the talk, a lively Q&A session opened up the discussion to the room - encouraging further reflection, challenge and exchange of ideas across the community.

Welcoming new voices into the community

A key moment in the evening was the introduction of several new Cambridge Wireless members - always an important part of the dinner and a reflection of the continued growth and evolution of the network. We welcomed Aguila International Risk Ltd, ALPS Electrical (Ireland) Ltd, Cap Air Systems Ltd, CU Phosco, OppiSec, Greenwoods, Kadans Science Partnership and System C.

Each new member brings fresh perspective, expertise and opportunity for collaboration, and it was fantastic to see such a warm and open welcome from the community.

Setting the tone for CWIC 2026

As always, the Founders’ Dinner served as more than just a standalone event. It set the tone for the Cambridge Wireless International Conference the following day - where conversations continue, ideas develop, and connections deepen.
The dinner played an important role in bringing the community together ahead of the busy and insightful conference programme.

Looking ahead

The strength of Cambridge Wireless lies in its community - and evenings like the Founders’ Dinner are a reminder of what that community can achieve when brought together.

We look forward to continuing these conversations throughout the year and building on the connections made as we shape the future of connectivity together.
