Analogue Electronics Engineer

Summary

We are looking for an electronics design engineer to join the team, with a leaning towards analogue design and power management. The work itself is extremely varied, from cost sensitive high volume consumer electronics, to high-reliability designs in avionics and medical. Projects can vary so you will need to be comfortable working in both process driven design flows and new research areas. Around 10 years’ experience of detailed design of baseband, analogue and power management electronics hardware is desired. Apply now and join a team that works with leading-edge technology at the forefront of today's hardest engineering problems.

Would you like to work on novel healthcare solutions, smart city technology, advanced robotic systems or sensors for autonomous drones? What about mobile ad-hoc radio networks or airfield radar? How do you fancy underwater or aircraft-based sensor and communications systems? These are all current projects at Plextek and we need the brightest minds joining our diverse teams to deliver them.

Our work is largely driven by technical development and innovation. One of the great advantages of working here is that no two projects are the same. If you are an enthusiastic, adaptable and motivated person who thrives on variety, enjoys learning new skills and facing exciting challenges then this is the place to be.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an electronics design engineer to join the team, with a leaning towards analogue design and power management.

The work itself is extremely varied, from cost sensitive high volume consumer electronics, to high-reliability designs in avionics and medical. Projects can vary from microwatts to tens of kilowatts and you will need to be comfortable working in both process driven design flows and new research areas, where a detailed specification is not yet available.

Plextek does a lot of wireless work, so you will need a good understanding of radios and how they should be designed to co-exist with high-speed digital electronics and sensitive analogue circuits. Achieving EMC & safety approvals compliance is another major aspect of the role, and your knowledge and experience of different testing regimen will be invaluable to our clients.

Around 10 years’ experience of detailed design of baseband, analogue and power management electronics hardware is desired. You will be capable of liaising sympathetically with clients, ranging from multi-nationals to small tech start-ups.

You will have up to date awareness of the components available on the market and will be knowledgeable assessing the pros and cons of different architectures. Close contacts with various electronic component distributors and chip vendors will help you get designs to market efficiently and with optimal pricing.

Mentoring younger engineers is an important part of the Plextek ethos, and you will enjoy delegating to and training junior members of staff. You will derive satisfaction from working in a professional but close-knit team with a keen focus on delivery.

THE REWARDS

In return, we offer a competitive package and a stimulating environment that will encourage you to be your best. We provide all the training, professional development and support that you need to complete your projects. We are a versatile business and are able to support career progression in many dimensions including technical, commercial and managerial.
