Description

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with experience of keeping large distributed cloud-hosted systems operational.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring and operations, as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues in our production and staging environments.

You will evangelise good DevOps practices within our team, working with the developers and QA to ensure scalability and reliability are designed in.  A major focus will be on automation, i.e. deployments, cloud set-ups, monitoring and alerting.

You will be confident and comfortable working with customers and their IT teams directly, as well as working with our internal teams.

Required skills:

  • Strong Linux administration
  • Strong scripting (bash or Python preferred)
  • AWS administration (or other cloud platforms)
  • Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Git source control management
  • Good communication skills

Desired skills:

  • Good competency in automation
  • Jenkins administration and configuration (or other CI and build systems)
  • Configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible
  • Understanding of distributed computing and highly available systems
  • Network and application monitoring tools
  • Docker and other container technologies
  • Immutable infrastructure
  • Security best practices

Experience of the following would be beneficial:

  • Artifactory
  • HBase or Hadoop
  • Java or Kotlin
  • Javascript and NodeJS
  • SQL and NoSQL
  • SonarQube
  • GoLang
