About the Team

Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, you will be leading the IT Infrastructure Team to further the vision and goals of the GSMA. The wider IT Operations Team also includes a Service Desk and an Information function. The core team is based in London, however we also have IT presence in Atlanta and in Hong Kong, which allows us to cover the working hours is most time zones using the follow-the-sun model.

As your primary objective, you will ensure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the GSMA’s core systems, by enhancing, managing and maintaining the GSMA’s IT Infrastructure in the Cloud and across all sites and locations globally. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations, you will also work to contribute to the successful delivery of GSMA events, as well as other corporate technology projects and initiatives.

About the Role

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for the management of the GSMA’s primarily Cloud-based infrastructure, which includes core SaaS business applications, as well as systems hosted on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
  • Take responsibility for DevOps governance and manage stakeholders across the DevOps lifecycle.
  • Line manage a team of experienced Infrastructure Engineers and work very closely with the wider team to provide escalation points, leadership, directions and guidance as required.
  • Evaluate and deliver new technologies and solutions and work with senior management to shape future IT Operations strategy.
  • Take ownership for problem management to ensure that root cause analysis is carried out to prevent future incidents.
  • Work to define key performance indicators and acceptable service levels. Maximise uptime, anticipate, and manage risks proactively.
  • Train and mentor team members to enable cross-skilling, effective knowledge management and personal and professional development.
  • Take ownership for establishing technical documentation and processes. Ensure changes are captured and documentation is updated regularly.
  • Work with external suppliers, consultants and service providers, representing the GSMA’s interest at all times.
  • Ensure that adequate information security measures are in place to protect the GSMA’s information assets, users and members.
  • Ensure that information security remediation is carried out promptly keeping a balance between security and seamless user experience.
  • Ensure that the Change Management Process is followed and uncontrolled changes are not made to the environment.
  • Monitor and maintain the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the infrastructure, ensure that uptime is maximised and take pre-emptive action as appropriate.
  • Ensure that backup procedures and business continuity measures are in place to avoid disruptions and ensure that data and service can be recovered according to business need.

About You

You will have deep technical understanding of most of the technologies in the GSMA environment. You enjoy challenges, and proactively seek out opportunities for improvement, constantly challenging old ways of working. You strike a healthy balance between creativity and structure, and you enjoy being hands on and jump in where appropriate. You lead by example and you are a strong communicator who can address stakeholders across the organisation.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Amazon Web Services IaaS and PaaS
  • Familiarity with DevOps governance and DevOps practices
  • Microsoft Azure and Hyper-V
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Windows domain environment and Linux management
  • PKI Certification Management
  • LAN and WAN management (Fortinet, Cisco)
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and BI
  • Office 365 (Especially Exchange Online, Skype for Business, Teams and OneDrive)
  • Okta or similar identity management solutions
  • Vulnerability scanning and Pen Testing Remediation
  • Backup solutions and strategies (Veeam, ASR)
  • SCCM image deployment process and patch management
  • Dell Servers and storage technologies incl. NAS, RAID, iSCSI, Store Simple
  • Endpoint distribution, security, encryption and enterprise mobility management (Mac and Windows laptops, Apple and Samsung mobile devices)
  • Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery technologies and strategies
  • Experience of Incident, Problem and Change Management, Risk Management and Continual Service Improvement
  • Team management experience is required
