How long has your company been in operation?
It was established in 1935.
What is special about your company’s products / services?
We have a purpose that guides us: “Make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation.”
Rather than sell ITC services, we partner with our customers and collaborators to create value always with an aim to move to a more sustainable future. In terms of technology we specialise in high power computing, cloud computing, networks, blockchain, AI and other clever problem-solving algorithms. We put a lot of effort into data, trust and security. We also work in the converging technologies field combining technology with humanities and social sciences.
Where does your company see its industry heading in the next ten years?
Environmental, social, and economic sustainability is now a global imperative. There is a growing acceptance that all organisations need to conduct their economic activities within our planetary boundaries.
Where does your company see itself heading in the next ten years?
Digital technology, which is ever more pervasive into every aspect of life, has the exciting potential to enable the innovation required to address our most complex and difficult challenges. The headline theme for the next 10 years is to drive sustainability transformation through digital innovation. This is a process of transforming business to bring about a positive change in our environment, society, and economies.
What is your company currently working on?
Computer modelling and AI algorithms are increasingly used to optimise processes, improve efficiencies, reduce carbon footprint and improve drug efficacy. Access to high performance computing is vital to enable these programs to find these improvements. We have developed a processor that, within Fugaku is the world’s fastest supercomputer, itself with improved energy efficiency.
With ever more compute power needed, we are working on quantum computers (which are still in the early stages of development), quantum computer simulators (to enable companies wishing to develop applications for quantum computers to do so now on standard silicon computers) and quantum inspired processor designs to provide some of the speed and efficiency increases promised by quantum computers to customers today
Which among your recent announcements is your company most proud of?
We have developed Uvance as a dedicated sustainability transformation focus, helping companies to navigate the path to sustainability. We are also creating content & webinars for everyone, such as the Fujitsu ActivateNow event (In 2022 it is happening at various times around the world in the first two weeks of October: https://www.fujitsu.com/global/microsite/activatenow/)
How would you describe your company culture?
People-centric
Who is your CEO?
Takahito Tokita
What is your company looking for from the CW community? What engagement opportunities can it offer?
We are looking to form mutually beneficial partnerships with start-ups, established businesses and organisations particularly where one of our technology strengths would be of use to our partner and where their technology or mission is aligned with our roadmap into the future. If there are members in the CW community who would benefit from computing power, custom-created advanced algorithms, machine learning and artificial intelligence capability, quantum computing knowledge or wish to ensure data security with blockchain technology, it is probably worth a chat.
