CWIC 2019 Blog – April – New Speakers Added to Line-Up
The agriculture track, chaired by Allia and being run in collaboration with Agri-Tech East, is complete. Three fast growing scale-ups will highlight the opportunities in the agri-food sector and identify areas where new technology deployments are having a considerable impact on productivity and sustainability. Each of these businesses is focusing on a different aspect of the farming world:
- Ben Crowther, CTO & Co-Founder of LettUs Grow designs irrigation and control technology that consistently deliver higher yields for vertical and glasshouse farms.
- Ian Wheal, Co-Founder & CEO of Breedr delivers an online data insights and marketing platform for pastoral farmers, helping customers maximise profit from their flocks and herds.
- Stevie Archer, Business Engineer at 30MHz manages a new, easy to deploy, real-time data platform for horticulture / agriculture that tracks environmental factors (moisture, temperature etc) and enables informed decision making.
You can find out more about the agriculture track in this blog.
Elsewhere, the retail and consumer electronics track is being curated by Tim Moore, VP of Smart Devices at ghd and supported by Julian Burnett, VP Global Markets (Distribution Sector, UK & Ireland) at IBM. ghd has just this Spring completed the Innovation Hive project with CW, where five start-ups pooled engineering expertise with its R&D team to co-develop a prototype connected hair straightening device. Meanwhile Julian has a distinguished career in Retail where, prior to his current role in IBM, he worked as CIO at House of Fraser.
Robert Shaw, Head of Asset Intelligence at Anglian Water joins EDF Energy in the Utilities track. Together they will provide their views on the role the digital sector could play in supporting water and energy firms to deliver higher quality services at lower costs – potentially while saving the planet through more efficient use of the world’s natural resources! Chris Hole, Senior Consultant at TTP chairs this session.
Esther Ford of Marks & Clerk and Dan Clarke, Smart Cambridge Strategy and Partnerships Manager are now being joined by James Dean, CEO of the simulated reality company, SenSat, who will chair the Intelligent Cities session, and Elaine Trimble, Director of Urban Infrastructure at Siemens, who liaises with cities and city leaders to figure out how technology can help them build resilience into urban systems and achieve goals such as cleaning air quality, reducing congestion and improving city services.
Tickets are £150 (+VAT) for CW members & £450 (+VAT) for non-members.
