“John always advocates for a flat structure. He chats to people on the floor every morning. Everyone’s voice is heard, and everyone’s opinion is taken on board.”

It’s not unusual for employees to pop by the HR office with questions, feedback, or just a chat. Open communication is encouraged — and more importantly, it’s acted on. Monthly health and safety forums give team members the chance to raise issues and share suggestions in a safe, supportive space.

Walk through the production floor or take a glance at the locker room names, and you’ll quickly hear the diversity in action. Alps Electric EMS proudly employs people from across the World including employees from Europe, Asia, and Africa.

This international team is supported from day one. Language support is offered, English classes are provided, and colleagues are encouraged to speak English during shifts to build confidence. As Noreen explains:

“We see them as a benefit to the company. Without them, we can’t run our business. They’re welcome here, and many of them have progressed into quality and logistics roles.”

“We support them through illness, help them return to work, and assist wherever we can,” says Noreen. “It’s just our nature.”

It’s not unusual for Alps Electric EMS employees to stay for decades. In fact, some of the original team from 1988 are still with the company today, having progressed into supervisory or senior management roles over the years.

There’s also a growing number of multi-generational employees, with children joining after seeing their parents build meaningful careers in Millstreet.

As Noreen puts it, “People don’t lose their roots. There’s a family feeling about it. We all challenge each other when needed, but we also pull together when it matters.”
