Cell Sweeping enables Antenna beams to sweep in the azimuth plane over 3600 rather than remaining fixed. This technique ensures that signal strength is distributed more effectively in the whole cell area specifically allowing users at the edge of the cell to experience higher speeds and reliable connectivity. Unlike beamforming, cell-sweeping does not require UE feedback or multiple RF chains to perform Beam Steering. Infact, Cell Sweeping does not require any update to the digital baseband or the air-interface. It is an RF level technique and can be applied in existing cellular networks (4G/5G) as well as future 6G network.
